The redevelopment of the state and federally heritage listed General Post Office precinct in Adelaide, South Australia brings new life into one of central Adelaide’s most historically important areas. What was once a thriving communications hub and Australia’s telecommunications connection with the rest of the globe has been reshaped into a new commercial and hospitality precinct.

The development is being delivered in two stages for two clients – the recently completed GPO Exchange office building for Charter Hall, and a new 285 guest room 5 Star Westin Hotel for Greaton Development that will shortly commence construction.

The Hassell team led by former Hassell (now Baukultur) Principal Mariano De Duonni and architect Adrian Kenyon, have created a jewel – like insertion into the heart of the heritage fabric of the GPO Building. Along with the new restaurants and hospitality facilities, it will inject new life into the precinct, 18 hours a day 7 days a week.
